Hilda Ekeroth: List of Influences

 

This page has no words for a reason

That is what it says on a blank page, in a real book, that is put online.

 

I´m drawn to fragmentary forms, to lists, diaries, notebooks, and letters. It´s the concreteness of these forms, the clarity of their adress, that appeals and elicits a frission, a touch of promise. I tear images out of magazines and brochures. I like the miniaturization and the possibility of possessing the thing. Perhaps I still write like a photographer – I go out into the world of other people´s writing and take snapshots.

 

After years of listening to his music, I still have zero sense of how his creative decisions are made, or not made: Does he take time recording his punched-in overdubs? Does he know the order of any of his tracklists? Has he ever done a second take in his life?

With the atrocious stuff, of course, the added mystery is: “Did he even listen to this? And good lord, why am I?

 

Hilda Ekeroth graduated from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, MFA in 2011. She is one half of the duo behind Antechamber.
